Ministry of Science and ICT Promises Continuous Government Support

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Pohang City announced on the 9th that the local company ‘Main Information System’ (CEO Park Ik-hyun) is solidifying its successful position as a global IT company by leveraging recent remarkable achievements.

Main Information System, a local IT company, participated in the Korea-UAE Summit Diplomatic Economic Delegation held last January, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in the future new industry sector and recently securing a contract worth 80 million dollars, laying the foundation for expansion beyond the domestic market into the global market.


Main Information System, located in the Eastern Branch of the Gyeongbuk Economic Promotion Agency (in Haedo-dong, Pohang City), was established in 2014 as a company specializing in autonomous driving content and platform development. Based on its proprietary technology, it collects extensive data to implement the convergence of mobile devices and autonomous driving programs such as hologram navigation and motion sensors, steadily accumulating differentiated capabilities and know-how in the IT field.


Recognized for its competitiveness and development potential, Main Information System was selected as part of the ‘UAE Summit Diplomatic Economic Delegation’ dispatched for the first time since President Yoon’s inauguration, alongside major domestic companies including Samsung and Hyundai, as well as leading small and medium-sized enterprises.


In particular, during the consultation meeting held concurrently with the Korea-UAE Business Forum, the company showcased its data collection solution for building 3D precision maps and signed an MOU with local buyers. Additionally, it demonstrated its presence as a notable player in the private sector’s new industry fields, including ▲ utilization of digital transformation technology related to UAE tourism (Yanolja) ▲ metaverse (XR) technology agreement (Aive Global) ▲ joint projects in the content sector (Korea Creative Content Agency).


On the 8th, Main Information System CEO Park Ik-hyun attended the ‘Ministry of Science and ICT K-Digital Overseas Expansion On-site Meeting’ along with companies awarded the CES Innovation Award and participants of the UAE economic delegation. He actively proposed tailored research and development (R&D) support related to follow-up investment attraction to central government officials including Vice Minister Park Yoon-kyu, who visited the site. Vice Minister Park promised continuous government-level support through the designation of dedicated departments and agencies for effective follow-up measures.


Kwon Hyuk-won, Director of the Job and Economy Bureau, said, “At a time when IT-based digital innovation is emerging as a key topic in the global industry, we are proud of local companies that are active on the world stage based on bold innovation and proprietary technology.” He added, “The city will make every effort to expand investment for companies, provide administrative and financial support such as regulatory exceptions, and create a corporate environment that can lead global standards.”
