KOSHA Distributes 'Electronic Industry Safe Work Guide'

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Duyul] The Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA) will distribute the "Safety and Health Guidebook" on the 10th both online and offline to provide hazardous and risk information for tasks performed by subcontractors in the semiconductor, display, and other electronic industries.

KOSHA's Smart Safety and Health Technology Institute has completed the development of the "Safety and Health Guide for Cleanroom Cleaning Workers" and the "Safety and Health Guide for Maintenance Workers of Exhaust Gas Treatment Facilities."

Printed copies of the produced booklets will be distributed to primary contractors in the semiconductor and display industries, and the same content in electronic files will be available for free download on KOSHA's official website.

The Institute is sequentially producing safety and health guides to provide hazardous and risk information to subcontractor workers, who are relatively vulnerable to safety and health issues among members of the semiconductor and display industry ecosystem.

KOSHA stated that the guides include characteristics of each task, hazardous risk factors, and accident prevention guidelines, and it is expected to greatly help prevent industrial accidents when primary contractors, cleanroom cleaning companies, and exhaust gas treatment facility maintenance companies utilize them in their work.

Kim Gyu-wan, Director of the Smart Safety and Health Technology Institute, said, "Many subcontractors in the electronic industry are relatively weak in securing safety and health information. We will contribute to securing workers' right to know and reducing industrial accidents by producing and distributing safety and health guides for hazardous and risky tasks performed by subcontractors."

KOSHA plans to produce a total of 16 types of safety and health guides for hazardous and risky tasks by 2025 and provide necessary hazardous and risk information annually to workers of subcontractors in the electronic industry.
