[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jeonseong] Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 9th that it held a 2024 national treasury fund securing progress report meeting chaired by Deputy Governor Kim Jeongseop with all heads of departments attending.
At the meeting, in-depth discussions were held to secure national treasury funds by reviewing issues and countermeasures based on visits and consultations with Jeollanam-do and central government ministries regarding 49 local pending projects worth a total of 771.6 billion KRW (464.4 billion KRW national funds, 114.1 billion KRW in 2024).

The new projects that the county will focus on in 2024 include 21 projects with national funds of 25.3 billion KRW (total project cost 225.5 billion KRW), such as ▲ Southern region wide-area tourism development specialized brand project (61.3 billion KRW) ▲ Micro electric vehicle platform demand-linked parts technology development (27 billion KRW) ▲ Construction of a dedicated feed factory for freshwater eel (10 billion KRW) ▲ Establishment of Future Agricultural Resources Development Center (8 billion KRW).
Ongoing projects include 28 projects with national funds of 88.8 billion KRW (total project cost 546.1 billion KRW), such as ▲ Maintenance of six natural disaster risk improvement districts (106.1 billion KRW) ▲ Green hydrogen production system technology development and performance testing center establishment (22.7 billion KRW) ▲ Micro electric vehicle business fostering service support demonstration (44.5 billion KRW) ▲ Personal mobility platform core technology development and demonstration (38.4 billion KRW) ▲ Construction of a yellow croaker aquaculture industrialization center (16 billion KRW) ▲ Maintenance of sewage pipelines in Yeonggwang, Hongnong, and Beopseong (48.2 billion KRW).
Earlier, immediately after Governor Kang Jongman’s inauguration, the county actively secured national funds by visiting central government ministries and the National Assembly seven times, achieving 55.7 billion KRW in national funds (total project cost 601.8 billion KRW) for 2023.
To secure national funds for 2024, the county held a 2024 national treasury fund proposal project discovery report meeting last December and has been proactively responding to securing local pending projects by visiting Jeollanam-do and central government ministries since January to explain the necessity of projects.
Going forward, until the government budget for next year is finally confirmed, the county plans to visit Jeollanam-do, central government ministries, and the National Assembly frequently to respond with tailored measures at each stage of budget formulation to fully secure national treasury funds.
Deputy Governor Kim Jeongseop said, “Let us focus all efforts on securing national treasury funds by prioritizing the reflection of budgets in central government ministries, frequently visiting Jeollanam-do and central ministries, emphasizing the development of logic and supplementing materials to explain the justification of projects.”
