Economic Sector "Voluntarily Participates in Earthquake Damage Recovery in Turkey"

The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Korea International Trade Association, Federation of Korean Industries, Korea Employers Federation, and Korea Federation of SMEs met on the 9th at the Plaza Hotel to discuss humanitarian aid measures from the business sector to support the recovery from the earthquake damage in Turkey.


The economic organizations stated, "Although our companies and citizens are facing difficulties due to recent price increases, we have recommended that member companies provide voluntary support according to their circumstances to help early recovery of the damage in our allied country Turkey and participate in global relief efforts." They also announced, "At the organizational level, each group has decided to raise relief funds and deliver them to Turkey."


Attending the meeting were Jeong Manki, Executive Vice President of Korea International Trade Association; Lee Dong-geun, Executive Vice President of Korea Employers Federation; Lee Ho-jun, Executive Vice President of Korea Federation of SMEs; Park Dong-min, Executive Director of Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and Bae Sang-geun, Executive Director of Federation of Korean Industries.


Meanwhile, the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck the southern region of Turkey and the northern border area of Syria on the 6th is estimated to have caused over 15,000 deaths.
