Establishing an Eco-Friendly Manufacturing Environment from Raw Materials to Final Products
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Ye-ju] SK Siltron has received the highest grade of 'Leadership A' in the climate change response category from CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project). It is the first among domestic unlisted companies and the first in the global wafer industry.
On the 9th, SK Siltron announced that it received the above award at the '2022 Climate Change Response and Water Management Excellence Companies' ceremony hosted by the CDP Korea Committee. It also earned the second-highest grade of 'Leadership A-' in the water management category.
CDP is a global non-profit organization based in the UK that discloses climate change response strategies, greenhouse gas emission data, and reduction efforts of major listed companies worldwide to investors and financial institutions. It is recognized as the most reliable institution in global sustainability assessments and is also a co-leader of the RE100 project.
SK Siltron was also named on 'The A List 2022.' The A List is an honor given to only a small number of companies, representing the top 1.6% among approximately 18,600 companies worldwide that disclosed information in 2022. This recognition is the result of establishing an eco-friendly manufacturing environment throughout the entire process, from raw material production and logistics of partners to wafer manufacturing.
Since declaring 'Net Zero 2040' in 2021, SK Siltron has actively carried out various greenhouse gas reduction activities, aiming to become the 'Lowest Carbon Wafer Supplier.' It is also promoting activities to accelerate the implementation of RE100. The company is increasing the speed of renewable energy transition by purchasing green premiums and reviewing power purchase agreements (PPA).
An SK Siltron official said, "To become the wafer manufacturer with the lowest carbon emissions in the global wafer industry, we will continue to strengthen our execution capabilities for net zero," adding, "We will provide differentiated value unique to SK Siltron by supplying eco-friendly premium wafers to our customers."
