Busan Office of Education Announces Measures to Strengthen On-site Support for School Violence Prevention

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 9th measures to strengthen on-site support, including school violence prevention education and capacity building for teachers responsible for school violence.

These measures aim to enhance the effectiveness of school violence prevention education through various student-centered activities tailored to the conditions and characteristics of each school, and to foster a culture of school violence prevention and strengthen the capabilities of teachers responsible for school violence.

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education operates the ‘Busan School Violence Recovery Support Team’ to respond early to school violence and restore the educational function of schools by supporting the restoration of relationships between victim and perpetrator students.

The support team deploys reconciliation and dispute mediation experts when school violence incidents that are difficult to mediate on-site occur, operating conflict and dispute resolution programs.

Through mutual communication, it plans to enhance the perpetrator students’ reflection and sense of responsibility and seek practical support measures for victim students, striving for genuine relationship restoration.

Additionally, to develop the social and emotional competencies of students experiencing difficulties in school life such as peer relationships, and to promote prevention education tailored to school violence types such as verbal and cyber violence linked to the curriculum, the ‘Cyber Violence Prevention Focus Schools’ program will be expanded to all elementary schools.

For middle and high schools, the student-led experiential school violence prevention education program ‘Eokkaedongmu School’ will also be operated to spread a culture of mutual respect.
