[Asia Economy Reporter Son Sunhee] The Korea Exchange announced on the 9th that it has urgently provided 100 million KRW in donations to help the victims of the recent earthquake in Turkey and to support the recovery of the affected areas.
The donation, delivered to the Korean Red Cross, will be used for overall emergency relief activities such as setting up shelters in the earthquake-affected areas in southeastern Turkey, providing relief supplies to affected residents, and emergency medical activities for the injured.
Son Byungdoo, Chairman of the Korea Exchange, said, "We hope that the earthquake damage in Turkey does not spread further and that no more casualties occur," adding, "The Exchange will continue to monitor the disaster situation and carry out support activities that can help with recovery."
Meanwhile, the Exchange has continuously supported domestic and international relief efforts, including this donation to Turkey, recovery from the 2013 typhoon damage in the Philippines, the 2018 Laos dam collapse recovery, and the 2022 wildfires in the Gangwon and Gyeongbuk regions.
