Hyundai Oilbank Installs Automated External Defibrillators at 210 Gas Stations

CPR Training Conducted for All Employees

[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seoyoon] HD Hyundai's energy affiliate Hyundai Oilbank is transforming its directly operated gas stations in urban areas nationwide into a public safety platform for emergency response to cardiac arrest patients. HD Hyundai selected safety as one of its core values during its vision declaration ceremony held in December last year.

On the 8th, Hyundai Oilbank and S-1 signed an MOU for the ‘Installation of Automated External Defibrillators (AED) at Gas Stations’ at the HD Hyundai headquarters in Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi Province. Attendees at the signing ceremony included Park Ki-chul, Head of PM Business Division at Hyundai Oilbank, Jo Jin-hyun, Head of PM Planning Division, Jeong Chang-moon, Head of Security Service Business Division at S-1, and Choi Jeong-yong, Head of Corporate Business Team.

Hyundai Oilbank will first install automated external defibrillators at a total of 210 directly operated gas stations located in commercial districts with high foot traffic in urban areas to provide rapid emergency treatment to cardiac arrest patients.

The automated external defibrillator is an emergency rescue device that helps restore heart function in cardiac arrest patients through electric shocks. When used within the golden time of 4 minutes, it can increase the survival rate up to 80%. Gas stations equipped with AEDs can be found on Hyundai Oilbank’s bonus card app ‘Car&’.

S-1 will provide equipment usage training to employees working at directly operated gas stations where AEDs are installed, and will also conduct cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training for all Hyundai Oilbank employees and staff at directly operated gas stations nationwide.

Park Ki-chul, Head of PM Business Division at Hyundai Oilbank, said, “Hyundai Oilbank operates the largest number of directly operated gas stations among domestic refiners. We aim to expand gas stations beyond simply places to refuel, transforming them into service platforms that provide various forms of assistance in citizens’ daily lives.”

Jeong Chang-moon, Head of Security Service Business Division at S-1, stated, “Through this MOU, as a leading domestic security company, we will take the lead in distributing AEDs and expanding CPR training to foster a culture of safety in everyday life. We will continue various activities to ensure that social infrastructure related to safety is further expanded.”
