Joo Ho-young "Bad Intent to Burden State Administration"
Seong Il-jong "Creating a Stain in Constitutional History"
[Asia Economy Reporters Bomryeong Geum and Youngwon Kim] The People Power Party strongly opposed the impeachment motion against Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Sang-min, which was passed in the National Assembly led by the Democratic Party of Korea on the 9th, describing it as "refusal to accept the presidential election results" and a "stain on constitutional history."
Jung Jin-seok, the emergency committee chairman of the People Power Party, stated at the emergency committee meeting held at the National Assembly that morning, "The people judged the Democratic Party in the last presidential election and allowed the Yoon Seok-yeol government to be inaugurated, but the Democratic Party cannot accept this and continues to carry out a campaign refusing to accept the election results."

Jung added, "Refusing to acknowledge the sovereignty entrusted to President Yoon Seok-yeol by the people is a direct challenge to the constitutional order of the Republic of Korea. The Democratic Party's refusal to accept the election results and destruction of the constitutional order will become a sharp boomerang that will directly hit the Democratic Party in next year's general election," emphasizing the point.
Joo Ho-young, the floor leader, also pointed out, "Even though the legal requirements are not met, if the majority party unilaterally starts the impeachment of a cabinet member just because they are displeased, political chaos is inevitable in any administration. Considering that the Democratic Party has not accepted defeat in the presidential election and has obstructed the government at every turn, this can only be seen as a malicious intent to damage the new government and burden its administration."
He continued, "This will remain a shameful dark chapter in constitutional history for a long time," and criticized, "The Democratic Party's baseless and excessive show of power will ultimately be severely judged by the people in next year's general election."
Seong Il-jong, the policy committee chairman, said, "The Democratic Party of Korea created a stain on constitutional history by abusing overwhelming power for the sole purpose of diverting public attention from the judicial investigation of Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung and shielding the legislature," adding, "The people are clearly watching, remembering, and will judge how the Democratic Party recklessly handled and abused the majority power granted by the people in the National Assembly."
