Production of 'Nunmureul Nasineun Sae' as the First Project
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Choi] Krafton announced on the 9th that it has opened a AAA game studio in Montreal, Canada.
Krafton Montreal Studio is led by CEO Patrick Mette, who has over 20 years of experience as a development leader in global game franchises. Industry veterans such as producer Benoit Prapier, game director Fr?d?ric Duroc, and technical director Martin Paradis have joined as key leaders. The studio plans to hire approximately 150 people in major departments including animation, programming, and human resources over the next three years.
Krafton Montreal Studio will develop a game based on The Bird That Drinks Tears. The game is based on the fantasy novel The Bird That Drinks Tears by Lee Young-do, a master of the Korean fantasy genre. It features unique settings and characters that exquisitely blend Eastern and Western elements. The story begins with a series of events involving four chosen races: humans, Recon, dokkaebi, and naga.
Changhan Kim, CEO of Krafton, said, “We are pleased to open Krafton’s third North American studio in Montreal, a city renowned as a hub for video game production,” adding, “We hope that creative and professional talent from the Canadian region will join the studio under the leadership of Patrick Mette, an excellent leader who has led world-class game franchises, to drive the project forward together.”
