[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Kumho Tire announced on the 9th that it will supply the Crugen EV HP71 as original equipment (OE) tires for Volkswagen's pure electric sports utility vehicle (SUV) 'ID.4'.
The Volkswagen ID.4 has secured the global market by ranking first in sales among European brand electric vehicles last year in 10 major European countries, including Germany. Kumho Tire will supply four sizes of the Crugen EV HP71 for this ID.4.
The Crugen EV HP71, a high-performance premium comfort SUV product, is a renewed version of the steady-selling Crugen HP71, optimized for electric vehicles. It uses an EV-optimized compound that includes highly dispersed precision silica to maximize ride comfort and braking performance.
Compared to general products, it significantly improves wear performance and braking power to enhance driving stability. In particular, it applies 'tire noise reduction technology' that disperses noise generated from the tire grooves. This product was developed using a pattern design analysis system.
Kim Insu, Executive Director of OE Sales at Kumho Tire, said, "As automakers aim for complete carbon neutrality and the supply of electric vehicles increases, Kumho Tire is also striving to supply OE tires that can maximize the performance of electric vehicles. By collaborating with premium automakers and repeatedly conducting research and development, we will launch leading products to provide customers with a better mobility experience."
Meanwhile, Kumho Tire is developing next-generation OE tires for electric vehicles with major global automakers. Since August last year, Kumho Tire has proven its outstanding technology and excellent quality by supplying electric vehicle tires as OE tires for Kia's globally popular 'EV6'.
