Cheon Ha-ram "Will Gain 60% Party Support... Yoon Looks Idle"

Determined to Surpass Lee Jun-seok with 'Cheongchureoram' Spirit

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Cheon Ha-ram, a candidate from the 'Lee Jun-seok faction' running in the party convention, confidently stated that he would secure 60% of the votes without going to a runoff. This figure is higher than the 43.82% recorded by former leader Lee Jun-seok in a past party convention.

On the 9th, Cheon said on BBS's 'Jeon Young-shin's Morning Journal,' "I am thinking of getting about 60% of the votes."

If a candidate obtains more than half of the votes, the winner is decided in the first round without proceeding to a runoff. He said, "That is what I think, and even if it goes to a runoff, I believe I will get about 60% of the votes. I visited Daegu and Gyeongbuk and listened to public sentiment, and many people thought that those called Yoon Hae-gwan (pro-Yoon core faction) lining up people in the party and privatizing it was excessive."

He added, "From what I see, at least 60% of our party members support the People Power Party, but if things continue in this direction, it’s not just about losing the general election; there is a sense of crisis that the party might repeat some unfortunate past. If I can represent and resolve that, I believe I can get more than 60% of the votes."

He emphasized, "I mainly consider myself anti-Yoon Hae-gwan, but honestly, I don’t care about being anti-Yoon or anti-Yoon Hae-gwan. I just need to be ‘pro-Republic of Korea.’ Pro-people, pro-public sentiment, and pro-government success."

Cheon also urged President Yoon Seok-yeol to "stop interfering in party affairs," saying, "The president looks too idle to the public. There are so many important issues in the world right now. The president’s primary tasks should be addressing poverty, inequality, regional extinction, and low birth rates in the Republic of Korea."
