Extension of Application Deadline for Facility Horticulture Farm Milk Subsidy to the 24th

Purpose of Reducing the Burden on Struggling Farms Due to High Oil Prices and Other Factors

[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Ju Sang-don] The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced on the 9th that the application deadline for fuel subsidies for facility horticulture farms (corporations) will be extended by two weeks from the original deadline of the 10th of this month to the 24th of the same month.

This subsidy is intended to ease the burden on facility horticulture farms struggling with high oil prices. Applications for the subsidy began being accepted from the 16th of last month. As of the 3rd, about 72% of eligible facility horticulture farms have submitted their applications.

The extension of the application period is to ensure that no farms are excluded from support, as subsidies will be provided to farms that submit applications in accordance with the "Basic Regulations on Financial Project Management in the Agriculture, Forestry and Food Sector." The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the NongHyup will actively promote the submission of applications by facility horticulture farms by the 24th through text message notifications and other means.

Earlier, to alleviate the long-term heating cost burden for facility horticulture farms, the ministry increased the national subsidy rate from 20% to 25% starting this year for the installation of energy-saving facilities such as multi-layer thermal curtains and automatic thermal covers (budget of 7.1 billion KRW in 2023). Support to promote the use of renewable energy (geothermal, waste heat, etc.) (budget of 15.2 billion KRW in 2023) will also continue.
