Songpa-gu to Hold Jamsil Park Indoor Playground Service Report Meeting on the 8th... Scheduled for Completion in December This Year
Plan to Transform the Former Jamsilbon-dong Community Center within the Park into an Indoor-Outdoor Connected Playground
Creating a Space Where Children Can Play Safely and Joyfully 365 Days a Year Without External Environmental Constraints
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] An ‘indoor playground’ where children can run freely regardless of snow, rain, or fine dust will be established in Jamsil, Songpa-gu.
Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced that it will hold a service report meeting for the Jamsil Park indoor playground on the 8th to prepare a play space that children can use without restrictions from external environments such as seasons and weather, officially starting the indoor playground construction.
The ‘Jamsil Park Indoor Playground’ will be built using approximately 2.3 billion KRW in special adjustment grants secured from the Seoul Metropolitan Government. The plan is to remodel the former Jamsilbon-dong Community Center within Jamsil Park without demolishing it.
In particular, the district plans to connect the outdoor Jamsil Park with the indoor playground space to create a play area that children can use all year round without limitations from seasons or weather. Construction is scheduled to begin in June, aiming for completion in December this year.
The total floor area of 549.3㎡ across the first and second floors will include various play elements and facilities such as a book space, block play, ball pool, and trampoline, designed for children from infants up to 9 years old. Additionally, facilities for guardians such as rest areas, restrooms, and nursing rooms will be provided to create a space where the whole family can enjoy together.
Meanwhile, the basement first floor (122.4㎡) will house a toy library. It will be equipped with various toys suitable for the age and developmental stages of infants and toddlers to reduce parents’ economic burden and support child development.
The district will actively reflect expert opinions discussed at this service report meeting to enhance the effectiveness of the indoor playground. Furthermore, it plans to continue consulting experts in landscaping, architecture, and play activities to create a highly complete indoor play space that satisfies children.
Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, said, “I am pleased to provide a space where children can play joyfully all year round without being affected by the weather,” adding, “We will continue to discover various spaces where children growing up in Songpa-gu can play safely and enjoyably to create a ‘Songpa where both parents and children are happy.’”

Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) will recruit regular users for the 2023 Early Childhood Forest Experience targeting kindergartens, daycare centers, and elementary schools in the area starting from the 13th.
The Early Childhood Forest Experience, part of Jungnang-gu’s regionally tailored green welfare services, is designed to provide young children with a place to freely play in the forest and connect with nature, helping to foster their emotional development and growth.
The experience will be operated for about nine months from March 13 to November at four locations: Yongmasan, Bonghwasan, Sagajeong Park Early Childhood Forest Experience Centers, and Gurungsan Nature Experience School. The program runs once a week for three hours per group, with an early childhood forest instructor participating in the activities.
Each experience center will recruit 30 classes, totaling 120 classes. Institutions wishing to participate must apply online via the Jungnang-gu Office website by February 17. Duplicate applications are not allowed, and participating children must be organized into classes of no more than 25 students. After recruitment, a public lottery will be held to finalize the selected institutions.
The Early Childhood Forest Experience, which has received great responses from participating children every year by utilizing the existing natural environment to the fullest, will offer various activities this year such as spider play, climbing trees, and forest classrooms. Additionally, a family festival for the Early Childhood Forest Experience will be held once a year for families to enjoy together.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “I hope children grow up healthy in both body and mind by feeling and connecting with nature through the Early Childhood Forest Experience program,” adding, “We will continue to make efforts to discover various green welfare programs so that not only children but all residents can enjoy and appreciate nature up close.”
Meanwhile, last year’s Early Childhood Forest Experience program was operated a total of 1,839 times, with about 37,000 participants.
