It was revealed belatedly that there was group bullying behind the private's firearm death accident that occurred three months ago at a forward General Outpost (GOP).
According to the Army on the 8th, Private A, who died from a gunshot wound while on guard duty at the GOP in Inje-gun, Gangwon Province on November 28 last year, had experienced group bullying before his death, according to an investigation by the military police, leading to his extreme choice.
Eight personnel were investigated as having bullied the deceased in the unit. They reportedly forced Private A to memorize tasks and subjected him to verbal abuse and threats.
The military police transferred these eight individuals, including officers, to civilian police for further investigation.
The Army explained the final investigation results to the bereaved family and stated, "We will strictly handle those involved according to laws and regulations."
