[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] The Korean Medical Association held a completion ceremony for its new headquarters building in Ichon-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul on the morning of the 8th.
The new KMA headquarters was completed with a total floor area of 9,250㎡, spanning from four basement floors to five above ground. The KMA began promoting the construction of the new building in 2017. Full-scale construction started on December 6, 2020, and the building received completion approval from Yongsan District Office last November. Occupancy was completed by mid-December.
In his greeting, KMA President Lee Pil-su said, "Thanks to over 200 organizations and more than 400 individuals who devoted their efforts throughout the construction process, we were able to reduce some financial burdens and move in safely. As the new KMA headquarters will be the foundation of the KMA’s history as well as the cornerstone for the medical community’s long-term future, I ask for continued interest and support for the development of the KMA and the medical sector."
Park Hong-jun, Chairman of the KMA Headquarters Construction Promotion Committee, said in his commemorative speech, "We went through difficult times, including two years resolving civil complaints during the construction process, but we have finally arrived at the new headquarters. I hope today will be a monumental day for our medical community to advance into the future."
The KMA, along with guests attending the completion ceremony, moved in front of the new headquarters building for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and commemorative photo session, followed by a tour of the new building from the first-floor lobby to the fifth-floor restaurant.
