Rescue dogs deployed locally worldwide

Mexico sent 16 detection dogs to the region to assist with search and rescue operations in T?rkiye.

The media reported that Mexico is also a country vulnerable to earthquakes and possesses specially trained civilian and military rescue teams. Among the rescue dogs sent to T?rkiye that day was 'Echo,' a Labrador Retriever who was a colleague of 'Frida,' known for wearing goggles and boots while working at the 2017 Mexico earthquake site.

According to the Mexican Navy, Frida saved 12 lives and found 40 bodies across Mexico, Haiti, Guatemala, and Ecuador. Although Frida passed away last year due to old age, her colleagues who worked alongside her in search operations were sent to the T?rkiye site.

Echo, a Belgian Malinois, was seen waiting at the airport with Mexican Navy personnel to board the plane that day.

Marcelo Ebrard, Mexico's Foreign Minister, posted a video of Red Cross members boarding the plane with the rescue dogs. In the video, Angel Daniel Hernandez, a Red Cross member, said he has been training with a German Shepherd named 'Rex' for five years.

A Mexican government official stated, "The rescue dogs can detect not only the scent of people buried alive under the rubble but also the smell of corpses. We hope that their prompt deployment will help rescue as many survivors as possible."

Not only Mexico but also Croatia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Libya, Poland, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States sent rescue dogs to the earthquake sites in T?rkiye and Syria. On the 7th, South Korea dispatched an emergency relief team of 118 members, including firefighters and special forces, to T?rkiye.
