2023 Season Collaboration with David Jones
Victory Partnership from 2 Years Ago
Competing in Saudi Ladies International on the 16th
World No. 1 female golfer Lydia Ko (New Zealand) is starting the 2023 season with a new caddie.
Golfweek in the United States reported on the 8th that Lydia Ko will team up with her new caddie David Jones at the European Ladies' Tour (LET) Aramco Saudi Ladies International, which opens on the 16th. The outlet explained that this information was confirmed by Lydia Ko's sister and manager.
Jones is working with Lydia Ko for the second time. He was her caddie when she won the 2021 Lotte Championship. Until recently, Jones served as the caddie for Nick Taylor (Canada) on the PGA Tour and has contributed to many players' major victories on the LPGA Tour. He was the caddie when Jeon In-ji (29) won the 2016 Evian Championship, and also when Park Sung-hyun (30) won the 2017 U.S. Women's Open and the 2018 KPMG Women's PGA Championship.
Lydia Ko worked with Derek Kistler as her player-caddie duo from the second half of 2021 through last year. During that period, she achieved excellent results, including holding the world No. 1 ranking and winning Player of the Year honors. Although Lydia Ko has not specifically mentioned the reason for changing caddies, it is interpreted as an effort to change the atmosphere and renew her determination as she begins the new season.
After getting married in Korea last December, Lydia Ko did not participate in tournaments due to her honeymoon and winter training. The Aramco Saudi Ladies International, before her return, is the stage where she lifted the winner's trophy in 2021.
