Ulsan City Launches First Half of the Year Call for 'Local Preliminary Social Enterprises'

Applications Accepted Until February 22, Expecting Local Job Creation

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Ulsan City is launching a regional preliminary social enterprise contest project for the first half of this year.

On the 8th, Ulsan City announced that it will hold an application contest for designation as a regional preliminary social enterprise to create jobs and provide social services for vulnerable groups.

This year's contest will be held twice a year, in the first and second halves. Applications for this first half contest will be accepted until the 22nd, and the final results will be announced on the Ulsan City website in March after document review, on-site inspection, and a judging committee.

To be designated as a regional preliminary social enterprise, the office location must be in Ulsan City. The organization must have a legal form defined by the Social Enterprise Promotion Act (such as a company under the Commercial Act, a cooperative, or a corporation/association under the Civil Act), and the main purpose of the organization must be the realization of social objectives.

Additionally, the organization must conduct business activities such as production and sales, and the articles of incorporation must specify that at least two-thirds of distributable profits are used for social purposes.

Required documents include the preliminary social enterprise designation application, business plan, documents verifying the organizational form, documents objectively proving business activity performance, and confirmation of compliance with labor-related laws and relevant project laws.

Once designated as a preliminary social enterprise, the organization will be eligible to participate in financial support projects such as job creation projects and business development fund support contests.

Companies wishing to apply must submit their applications through the Social Enterprise Integrated Information System by February 22.

For further details, refer to the 2023 First Half Regional Preliminary Social Enterprise Designation Plan announcement posted on the Ulsan City website, or contact the City’s Corporate Support Division, the social enterprise departments of each district and county office, or the Ulsan Social Economy Support Center.

Ulsan City plans to hold an online business briefing session via an online video conferencing program at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on the 14th, hosted by the Ulsan Social Economy Support Center, to support smooth application submissions by companies.
