Seoul City Conducts Safety Training to Prevent Construction Equipment Fatal Accidents

Construction Equipment Safety Management Expert Invitation Training Conducted

[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 8th that it will conduct a training session tomorrow at the Yajugae Hall of the Seoul Museum of History for 220 people, including public officials working as safety managers at city-commissioned construction sites, construction project management teams, and contractors, to prevent fatal accidents caused by construction machinery.

Construction sites are highly hazardous environments where various construction machinery such as tower cranes and excavators coexist with workers. However, safety managers lack expertise in construction machinery and there is no mandatory safety management training for construction machinery, making it urgently necessary to complete such education.

A construction machinery safety management expert will serve as the instructor, providing customized training under the theme "Safety Management Methods for Managers to Reduce Construction Machinery Accidents," covering various accident cases involving construction machinery, inspection methods, plan preparation guidelines, and related laws and regulations.

In particular, the training will include the "Construction Machinery Pinch Point Prevention System," which warns workers approaching heavy equipment such as excavators and dump trucks, as well as heavy equipment operators, about the risks of proximity, thereby creating a work environment where workers can operate with peace of mind.

Kim Seongbo, Director of the Urban Infrastructure Headquarters of Seoul City, stated, "We will prevent fatal accidents caused by construction machinery by blocking unsafe use behaviors and intensively managing construction machinery," adding, "We will spread a safety culture that starts with following small safety rules to create a 'Safe City Seoul.'"
