Meeting with Entrepreneurs at KAIST on the 7th... Yoon "Government Should Aim to Be an Innovation Hub"
[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] President Yoon Suk-yeol emphasized on the 7th that "the two core pillars of the local era are advanced science and technology and education," adding, "Local governments must also roll up their sleeves for advanced science and technology and digital innovation."
That afternoon, President Yoon met with science and technology and digital innovation entrepreneurs at the Startup Campus of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in Daejeon, stating, "When the government aligns national administration not with ideology but with science, and aims to become the world's best innovation hub according to global standards, our companies will be able to surpass global enterprises," delivering this message of encouragement.

Referring to Daejeon, which he visited, President Yoon described it as a "model of the local era." He also mentioned the CES Innovation Award-winning entrepreneurs who recently had lunch together at the Yongsan Presidential Office, elaborating, "On that day, we had lunch together at Yongsan, and among those who came, there were 10 companies rooted in Daejeon."
He also stressed the role of local governments. President Yoon said, "Local governments must also roll up their sleeves for advanced science and technology and digital innovation," adding, "They should make local universities the hubs of regional development and actively support talented individuals to invest in and grow technology startups in their regions." He further promised, "The government will also do its utmost to support advanced science and technology and digital innovation companies rooted in the regions to confidently step onto the global stage and demonstrate their capabilities."
The meeting that day was held with science and technology and digital-based innovative entrepreneurs under the slogan "Nurturing dreams locally, blooming globally." It was arranged for President Yoon to personally visit Daejeon to encourage innovative entrepreneurs who started locally and are expanding globally, as well as recently founded student entrepreneurs, and to discuss ways to spread technology startups and science and technology and digital-based innovation throughout the regions.
