Over 20,000 Visitors... Seogyo-dong Cafe Becomes a 'Hot Place'

Walking through the cafe street in Seogyo-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, where several unique cafes gather, you will notice an exotic scenery. Amidst the urban landscape, the sight of layered stone walls is impressive?this is 'Cafe Samdakoji,' the flagship store of Jeju Samdasoo.

Opened in Seogyo-dong last November, Cafe Samdakoji is a space designed for experiencing the Jeju Samdasoo brand. Visitors can enjoy coffee brewed with Jeju Samdasoo, beverages made with Jeju crops, and desserts inspired by Jeju. Thanks to the special feeling of traveling to Jeju Island within the city, it quickly became a 'hot place' among the MZ (Millennial + Generation Z) generation. Marking its 100th day since opening on the 8th, Cafe Samdakoji has welcomed a cumulative total of 20,000 visitors so far.

Promoting Jeju within the city, Cafe Samdakoji is filled with Jeju landscapes. Upon entering, the first thing you see is a palm tree brought from Jeju Hallim Park. There is also a sculpture representing the Jeju Samdasoo water source. It’s not just the sculpture; on the second floor, the 'Jeju Samdasoo Zone' maximizes the feeling of actually visiting Jeju Island through videos and sounds.

Another difference between Cafe Samdakoji and regular cafes is the 'water.' Cafe Samdakoji uses only the clean volcanic bedrock water 'Jeju Samdasoo,' formed at an altitude of 1,450 meters on Hallasan Mountain, for all water and beverages including coffee. Visitors can also hear the Jeju Samdasoo brand story from professional baristas. Through QR codes placed throughout the space, visitors can access the 'Samdasoo (水) Story Archive' page and find various information about Jeju Samdasoo and the flagship store. A variety of drinks and desserts that satisfy both the eyes and palate are also available, such as the 'Samda Cream Latte' topped with Samda cream made from tangerine peel, and the ‘Jeju Barley Waffle’ finished with ice cream and matcha cream on waffles made from Jeju barley.

Hyunjong Lee, head barista of Samdakoji, said, "Cafe Samdakoji is a space imbued with the unique sensibility of Jeju nature and Jeju Samdasoo, and customer responses have been positive regarding the use of Jeju-sourced ingredients, which are hard to find on the mainland, and the use of Jeju Samdasoo in all menu items," adding, "We will continue to maximize the soft taste of water, which is the strength of Jeju Samdasoo, and strive to promote its clean and safe water quality and delicious taste."
