LH·HUG·Incheon Urban Corporation, 'Emergency Housing Support' Business Agreement
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Incheon City is stepping up to provide housing support for victims of jeonse fraud to have temporary shelter.
On the 7th, the city signed an 'Emergency Housing Support Agreement for Jeonse Victims' with Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), Incheon Urban Corporation (iH), and Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation (HUG).
These four organizations agreed to jointly handle tasks such as victim counseling, emergency housing support application reception and review, and temporary shelter support in a unified manner at the Incheon Jeonse Victim Support Center, which opened on the 31st of last month.
Emergency housing support is a system that provides temporary shelter to victims of jeonse fraud who urgently need housing due to eviction orders and other reasons.
Going forward, when HUG receives an emergency housing support application, it will review it and send a victim confirmation letter to Incheon City, which will then provide temporary shelter from the LH and iH owned purchased rental housing.
Currently, the purchased rental housing (vacant units) available for supply in Incheon totals 242 units, combining 226 units from LH and 16 units from iH, with plans to secure additional housing in the future.
The rental period for housing under emergency housing support is six months. Tenants only need to pay rent and maintenance fees at about 30% of the market price without any deposit.
Yoo Jeong-bok, Mayor of Incheon, said, "We will carefully monitor the situation of victims to help citizens who are suffering greatly from jeonse fraud quickly regain housing stability, and we will do our best to prepare measures to improve the system."
