[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education is launching the establishment of a ‘Student Customized Integrated Support System’ to early identify at-risk students and provide tailored support.
The system establishment is a project led by the Ministry of Education aimed at resolving issues arising from separate support projects for at-risk students and providing integrated support for all aspects of the lives of students in need.
The Ministry of Education designates and operates ‘Student Customized Integrated Support Leading Schools’ to address problems such as the inability to accurately analyze the causes of difficulties faced by students in normal educational activities, excessive overlapping support for some students, and the coexistence of welfare blind spots.
Busan operates one leading school. The leading school designated is Choryang Elementary School in Dong-gu, which has an education-vulnerable student ratio of 30.2% and a multicultural family student ratio of 29.1% relative to the total student body.
This school will receive an annual budget of 100 million KRW for three years starting this year to develop various models for operating student-customized integrated support teams and share cases to encourage the gradual expansion of the project.
Kim Sun-ryang, Director of Elementary Education at the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, said, “Many students face difficulties in school life due to complex factors. We will do our best to properly establish a system to identify and support these students, help them adapt to school life, and provide thorough support so that education-vulnerable students can nurture their dreams and hopes.”
