Priority Benefits for Livestock-Related Subsidy Projects Upon Certification
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 7th that it is preventing disease outbreaks within farms through eco-friendly livestock certification and securing consumer trust by producing high-quality and safe livestock products, thereby establishing sustainable eco-friendly livestock farming.
Eco-friendly livestock certification includes eco-friendly livestock products (organic and antibiotic-free) certified by specialized certification agencies and animal welfare livestock farms certified by the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency.
Currently, Hwasun-gun has 69 farms producing eco-friendly livestock products and 4 animal welfare livestock farms certified.
Although certification standards vary by livestock type, common criteria include rearing environment, feeding and watering, livestock stocking and shipment, feed nutrition management, animal welfare, disease control, and quality management.
The eco-friendly livestock certification support project includes ▲ certification costs for organic, antibiotic-free livestock products and animal welfare livestock ▲ livestock shipment incentives ▲ designation incentives for green livestock farms, organic livestock, and animal welfare livestock farms.
The county is supporting 180 million KRW through the eco-friendly livestock certification support project with funding from Jeollanam-do to establish eco-friendly livestock farming, and additionally provides benefits to prioritize selection as recipients of other livestock-related subsidy projects.
A county official stated, “We are promoting the expansion of eco-friendly livestock certification within the region by partially compensating for the increased production costs associated with environmentally friendly livestock management by livestock farmers.”
