[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Oh Young-soon, a member of the Nam-gu Council of Gwangju Metropolitan City, announced on the 7th that three ordinances, including the "Ordinance on Establishing a Mental Health Crisis Response System," were passed at the 291st Extraordinary Session of the Social Construction Committee.
The "Ordinance on Establishing a Mental Health Crisis Response System" includes provisions for establishing a consultative body for mental health crisis response and support, securing public hospital beds for psychiatric emergency admissions, and budget support for these purposes.
The "Ordinance on Supporting Pregnancy, Childbirth, and Childcare for Women with Disabilities" contains regulations enabling the district mayor to take responsibility and promote support projects related to pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare for women with disabilities.
Lastly, the "Ordinance on Installing and Operating Optimal Seating for the Disabled, Elderly, and Pregnant Women in Public Facilities in Nam-gu" mandates that facilities such as theaters within the district install optimal seating for the disabled and others according to the law, and expand mobility convenience facilities to allow easy access and viewing for disabled persons.
According to this ordinance, each theater and similar facility must install optimal seating for the disabled and others as required by law, install necessary facilities to ensure easy access and viewing for disabled persons, and expand mobility convenience facilities.
Councilor Oh stated, "Through this ordinance, by stipulating necessary matters to establish a response system for mental health crisis situations, it will contribute to promoting the mental health of district residents and the stable family life of women with disabilities. Additionally, by installing optimal seating in theaters and other venues, I hope that the access and viewing rights of socially vulnerable groups such as the disabled to these venues will be practically guaranteed."
The ordinance is scheduled to be enacted through deliberation and resolution at the 2nd plenary session of the 291st Extraordinary Session to be held on the 8th.
