Kim Ki-hyun "A Party Leader Without Personal Bias" Ahn Cheol-soo "170-Seat Landslide Victory in General Election"

Kim "Maximizing National Energy through Party-Government Harmony"
Ahn "Democratic Party Annihilation in the Capital Region"

[Asia Economy Reporters Hyunju Lee and Youngwon Kim] The candidates running for the People Power Party leadership in the March 8 party convention each highlighted their strengths and completed their first policy presentations. The two leading candidates, Kim Ki-hyun and Ahn Cheol-soo, actively appealed for support through their policy speeches.

Candidate Kim emphasized that he has never changed his party affiliation and highlighted his experience as the opposition floor leader during his policy presentation held on the morning of the 7th at the ASSA Building in Gangseo-gu, Seoul. Concerned about the perception that he is supported by pro-Yoon faction lawmakers, he stressed, "I will become a leader who leads the party without personal interests."

Kim said, "I will maximize national governance energy through harmony between the party and government and firmly support the government's success," adding, "While serving as the mayor of Ulsan Metropolitan City, I consistently ranked first in the performance evaluation of governors across 17 cities and provinces nationwide."

He continued, "I will protect constitutional values to strengthen our identity," and stated, "I will uphold the principles of liberal democracy and market economy and will never compromise with forces that deny liberal democracy."

He also said, "Through bottom-up candidate selection, I will ensure that party members' voices are reflected in real time," adding, "I will not engage in self-serving politics. I will become a leader who leads the party without personal interests, achieving great unity within the party through solidarity, inclusion, and reconciliation, so that our party moves forward united. Please support me, the candidate of 'Ilpyeongdangsim' (One Heart, One Mind)."

Candidate Ahn promised a landslide victory in the general election by winning the metropolitan area. He claimed that securing seats in the metropolitan area would increase the People Power Party's seats to 170.

Ahn began by saying, "In the last by-election, I gave my all to lay the foundation for regime change," and added, "I contributed to regime change through unification with presidential candidate Yoon Seok-youl."

He then said, "I will win the general election with 170 seats by breaking away from the metropolitan area," explaining the reason for the need to win in the metropolitan area by pointing out that all elected supreme council members of the Democratic Party are from the metropolitan area.

Ahn stated, "The battleground for the next general election is the metropolitan area," and expressed confidence, saying, "We can reclaim it by nominating good candidates in constituencies and electing a party leader with expansion capabilities. Then we can secure 170 seats."

He added, "I have contested elections in Seoul and Gyeonggi three times. I won overwhelmingly in all elections," and "I have an overwhelming advantage over competitors in youth support rates and metropolitan area support rates."

Ahn said, "I will annihilate the Democratic Party in the metropolitan area and definitely achieve a landslide victory with 170 seats in the general election," and addressed party members, "You may have many concerns, but please use me as a tool for a landslide victory in the general election."
