[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Wanyong] Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) announced on the 7th that it will hold the 'LH Urban Digital Twin Idea Contest.'
This contest was prepared to discover and provide services needed in people's daily lives through digital twin technology. The themes are 'Urban Digital Twin Platform' and '3rd New Town 3D Virtual City Experience Service.'
LH is promoting the introduction of digital twin technology, mainly used in the manufacturing sector, to innovate work using new digital technologies. The urban digital twin platform, which is also utilized in the urban planning stage, has been gradually built since 2020.
Additionally, the 3rd New Town 3D Virtual City Experience Service, which converts city information into 3D to allow a three-dimensional understanding of apartment complexes and surrounding buildings after occupancy, has been provided since last year.
For this contest, participants can propose practical additional functions that can be used in actual work for the urban digital twin platform and ideas that can complement the existing system. For the 3rd New Town 3D Virtual City Experience Service, ideas on additional services to be provided, information necessary for the public such as pre-sale lottery winners, and website improvement points can be submitted.
Eligibility is open to university students and the general public residing in Korea, and there is no limit on the number of submissions. Those wishing to participate should write ideas on the contest themes and submit them through the contest website by the 5th of next month.
After evaluation, a total of 52 ideas will be selected, and prizes totaling 15 million KRW will be awarded, including one grand prize winner (2 million KRW), two excellence award winners (1 million KRW each), and three encouragement award winners (500,000 KRW each) in both the general public and university student categories.
An LH official said, “Through this contest, we will discover service elements that the public can feel in their daily lives and actively review and reflect the various opinions received. We expect LH to contribute to the development of core technologies related to smart cities, which will be developed over about 250㎢ in the next 10 years.”
