11 Local Medical Device Companies Participate
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Koo Dae-sun] Daegu City set up a ‘Daegu Joint Pavilion’ at the 2023 Dubai International Medical Devices Exhibition (Arab Health 2023) and supported local companies participating, achieving $17.69 million in local contract performance.
On the 7th, the city stated, “Under the supervision of Daegu Technopark, at the ‘48th Dubai International Medical Devices Exhibition (Arab Health 2023)’ held for four days from January 30 to February 2 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, we set up the Daegu Joint Pavilion and supported local companies’ participation, resulting in a total of 2,934 export consultations worth about $58.8 million and export contracts worth $17.69 million.”
Eleven local companies participated in this exhibition supported by Daegu City, including companies supported by the K-Medi Hub linked cooperation project: 3H, Fine Medics, Incoa, Intin, Edplus, Gabots, Nanum Company, One Soft Time, Mentis, Intellos, and Endovision.
Among the participating companies, 3H, a Daegu star company producing smart acupressure beds, was recognized for its excellent technology by overseas buyers and received on-site contract requests totaling $1.3 million from companies in the UAE, Iran, Qatar, and India. The 820HP product succeeded in signing exclusive distribution contracts with companies in the UAE, Iran, Mexico, Oman, and Syria, securing export contracts worth $2 million.
Fine Medics, a Daegu free star company, concluded expanded export contracts with existing buyers in Saudi Arabia and Russia for endoscopic surgical instruments (such as clear tip), and discussed new contracts worth a total of $2 million with companies in Qatar, Pakistan, Iraq, and Indonesia.
Intin secured new clients in the Middle East by signing a $350,000 contract with Iran for products such as the Obview sperm analyzer and ovulation analyzer.
In addition, participating companies not only concluded small-scale contracts through active consultations but also received positive evaluations from global buyers, brightening prospects for diversifying export markets in the future.
Companies from the Daegu region are conducting export consultations at the Dubai International Medical Devices Exhibition.
The Dubai International Medical Devices Exhibition (Arab Health), held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, is the largest medical device exhibition in the Middle East. It featured 23 exhibition halls by category, with 4,000 companies from 68 countries participating, and approximately 130,000 visitors during the exhibition period.
In Korea, a total of 203 Korean companies participated in the offline exhibition, including joint pavilions formed by Daegu Technopark, Korea Medical Devices Industrial Cooperative Association (75 companies), Wonju Medical Device Technovalley (15 companies), and Korea Photonics Industry Promotion Association (12 companies), as well as 78 individual participating companies, conducting various activities to target Middle Eastern and European markets.
Seogwi-yong, Director of the Medical Industry Division of Daegu City, said, “Supporting participation in the Dubai International Medical Devices Exhibition joint pavilion, where innovations and trends in the global medical market can be confirmed in one place, was a great opportunity to promote the excellence of Daegu’s medical technology and medical device products and enhance global competitiveness. We will continue to actively support marketing so that local companies can expand their presence in overseas local markets and establish a product supply base.”
