Earlier that day, a media outlet reported that Kang Min-kyung's father, Mr. A, and older brother, Mr. B, who run a real estate development company, signed a real estate development contract worth a total of 1.2 billion KRW but failed to fulfill it. The complaint was filed on the 2nd at the Yeonje Police Station in Busan.

According to the report, Mr. A and Mr. B claimed to investors, including Mr. Park and 18 others, that they would develop a forest land located in Munji-ri, Paju, Gyeonggi Province, within two years around September 2017. They promised to refund the money if the land value did not increase after development.

Investors signed contracts to invest 400,000 KRW per pyeong, totaling 1.2 billion KRW, in the said forest land. However, the land has not been developed to this day despite the contract. During this process, one investor was even arrested on fraud charges. Investors claim that Mr. A verbally promised to repurchase the investment or compensate with other land but failed to keep even this promise.

On the other hand, Mr. A reportedly filed a counter-lawsuit for defamation against five complainants, denying that he ever signed investment contracts with those individuals.

Mr. A stated, "I never signed investment contracts with those people, so I have no money to pay. Their claims are essentially saying, 'Give us money because you are Kang Min-kyung's father,'" and added, "I have filed complaints against those who left comments on my daughter's YouTube channel or called her shopping mall, and I will continue to respond strongly."
