If Soybeans and Wheat Are Cultivated in Rice Fields, Support Provided... Ulsan City Implements Strategic Crop Direct Payment Program

Improvement of Food Self-Sufficiency Rate and Rice Supply Stability System

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Ulsan City will officially implement the ‘Strategic Crop Direct Payment Project’ starting this year, which provides direct payments for cultivating alternative crops in rice paddies to increase food self-sufficiency and stabilize rice supply and demand.

The Strategic Crop Direct Payment Project is a 100% government-funded initiative that adds summer crops to the existing direct payment crops cultivated in rice paddies.

It supports 500,000 to 4,300,000 KRW per hectare for cultivating crops such as soybeans, glutinous rice, wheat, and forage crops instead of rice in paddies. For cultivating existing direct payment crops in paddies during winter, 500,000 KRW per hectare will be supported as before.

Additionally, 1,000,000 KRW is provided for cultivating soybeans or glutinous rice in summer, and 4,300,000 KRW for forage crops.

The Strategic Crop Direct Payment Project will accept applications at the administrative welfare centers of towns and townships where the farmland is located from the 15th of this month until March 31st, and direct payments will be made in December after crop cultivation compliance inspections.

For matters related to registering for the strategic crop direct payment, visit the administrative welfare center of the town or township where the farmland is located for consultation and application.
