Following Last Year's Business Cooperation MOU
Signing of a Detailed Basic Agreement
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seoyoon] Doosan Enerbility is strengthening its competitiveness in the domestic offshore wind power market by partnering with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE), the global leader in offshore wind power.
On the 7th, Doosan Enerbility announced that it signed a Framework Agreement for strategic cooperation in the domestic offshore wind power market with Siemens Gamesa, a subsidiary of Germany's Siemens Energy. Previously, in June last year, the two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for strategic cooperation in the domestic offshore wind power market.
The signing ceremony for the Framework Agreement held in Hamburg, Germany, was attended by Doosan Enerbility’s Park Hongwook, Head of Power Service BG, and Siemens Gamesa’s Mark Becker, CEO of the Offshore Wind Division, along with other representatives from both companies.
Through this agreement, the two companies will collaborate in various fields including ▲assembly, construction, and operation & maintenance (O&M) services of ultra-large offshore wind nacelles ▲discovering and nurturing domestic component suppliers to revitalize the domestic offshore wind ecosystem ▲promoting knowledge exchange and education on offshore wind power technology.

Park Hongwook, Head of Power Service BG at Doosan Enerbility, stated, “Both companies, which possess their own offshore wind models and track records, will actively promote expanded participation in the domestic offshore wind market and ecosystem revitalization through cooperation.” He added, “Through this collaboration, we will significantly enhance competitiveness across the entire offshore wind business, including upgrading existing products and diversifying models.”
Mark Becker, CEO of Siemens Gamesa’s Offshore Wind Division, said, “We aim to introduce world-leading offshore wind technologies, such as innovative offshore direct drive nacelle technology, to Korea.” He added, “This partnership is expected to not only provide eco-friendly energy but also promote job creation and additional investments.”
Siemens Gamesa holds the number one market share in the global offshore wind market with a supply record of 21GW. It currently offers various offshore wind models ranging from 6MW direct drive to 14MW. Doosan Enerbility, which started its wind power business in 2005, holds the largest supply record in domestic offshore wind power and obtained international certification for its 8MW offshore wind turbine last year.
