[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Professor Park Kyunghoon of the Department of Smart Green Engineering, College of Engineering, Changwon National University, has been appointed as a member of the Local Education and Social Advisory Committee of the Korea Council of Governors.
According to the university, Professor Park recently attended the 1st Local Education and Social Advisory Committee held at the council secretariat conference room, where he received a certificate of appointment along with other members, one recommended from each of the 17 metropolitan cities and provinces.
He then participated in the 1st meeting and began activities such as advising on regulatory innovation in education and social fields, the transfer of authority over higher education to local governments, sharing information among related institutions in local education and social sectors, and overall project consultation.

The Policy Advisory Committee is composed of five sectoral committees: ▲Local Era Advisory Committee ▲Local Education and Social Advisory Committee ▲Local Public Safety and Administrative Affairs ▲Local Diplomacy ▲Local Inter-Korean Cooperation.
It will study various policies aimed at the local era, which has been actively promoted under the current government, and serve as an advisory body for both central and local governments.
Professor Park said, “I will contribute to the government’s region-tailored education reform by utilizing my diverse experiences in the university and local community, including serving as director of the Changwon National University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, director of the Planning Office, director of the LINC+ Project Group, and a member of the Gyeongnam Province Governor’s Transition Committee for the 8th elected term, as well as my close cooperative network with local governments.”
He added, “I will propose and actively discover various policies related to setting the direction for the Regional Innovation-centered University Support System (RISE) project, which focuses on expanding local governments’ authority to support universities and deregulation, and fostering glocal (global+local) universities with world-class competitiveness.”
