[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Pohang City is accelerating the promotion of the ‘2023 Energy Welfare Project’ to realize the ‘99% Energy Welfare Era.’

The LPG pipeline network construction project will invest 13.1 billion KRW targeting 14 villages (Heunghae 1, Cheongha 6, Singwang 1, Jukjang 1, Ocheon 3, Janggi 1), and 2.3 billion KRW will be invested for city gas supply to install supply pipes in 5 villages (Yeonil Jungdan-ri, Guryongpo Samjeong 1-ri, Ilbonin Gahok Street, Donghae Seok-ri, Ocheon Won-ri).

In particular, Pohang City stated that the energy welfare project is expected to greatly help reduce energy costs in the outskirts of eup and myeon areas where city gas is not supplied, amid the recent sharp rise in heating and other energy usage fees.

The LPG pipeline network construction project is more than 50% cheaper than existing LPG containers and 15-20% cheaper than kerosene, and it can establish a comprehensive management system for LPG pipeline networks to be used conveniently and safely.

Currently, LPG pipeline networks have been completed in 23 villages, and daily patrol inspections, operation, and management are conducted through specialized institutions.

To promote the LPG pipeline network project, the city has been holding explanatory meetings on the LPG pipeline network construction project since the 31st targeting Heungan 2-ri, Deokseong 1-2-ri, Yulpo 2-3-ri, Cheongjin 1-2-ri, Jukseong 2-ri, Segye 1-ri, Gwangmyeong-ri, and Sanseo-ri.

Along with this, the city plans to proceed sequentially with a business agreement with the city gas company, detailed section surveys, private land consent, detailed design, permits, and selection of construction companies to ensure the smooth progress of the city gas supply project.

Mayor Kangdeok Lee said, “Pohang City is currently accelerating efforts to eliminate energy welfare blind spots through the expansion of city gas supply and LPG pipeline network construction projects. We will continue to hold explanatory meetings for residents and focus on promotion to expand energy welfare policies so that 99% of all citizens can enjoy energy welfare benefits within 10 years.”
