Korea Food Industry Association Conducts Export Package Support Project to India Commemorating 50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations

The Korea Food Industry Association announced on the 6th that it will jointly carry out the 'Comprehensive Export Package Support Project to India' with the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and India.

To expand exports of K-Food to the Indian market, the association plans to provide a package program that offers comprehensive support, including discovering and introducing local buyers, facilitating entry into local online and offline distribution channels, utilizing FTAs, and participating in food exhibitions.

India is the world's most populous country and is expected to rise to G3 status by 2030, making it the largest emerging promising market globally. However, due to various non-tariff barriers and difficulties in finding buyers, the entry of domestic food companies remains limited. Accordingly, the association will support participation in local food fairs as well as address non-tariff barriers to food exports to India. The Seoul Regional Customs Office, which has signed a comprehensive export support MOU with the association and food companies, will provide services such as 'Korea-India CEPA benefit analysis,' 'origin certification consulting,' and guidance on export customs clearance procedures for desired export items. Lee Hyo-yul, President of the Korea Food Industry Association, said, "Interest in K-Food is increasing recently even in India, which was once a barren land for the Korean Wave, so the prospects for entering the local market are bright. We expect that this project, planned to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and India and the G20 summit, will help expand exports of our food companies to India."
