According to the county on the 6th, this promotion event was held in front of the Wando-gun promotion booth inside Kok Kok Megamart, a large-scale distribution chain in Vientiane, where representatives of companies based in Wando directly showcased their products to local consumers.

The promotion event was a follow-up to the first dispatch of the Laos market development team in November last year. On the 2nd of last month, a shipment of about 50 million KRW worth of 47 items including abalone slices, seaweed noodles, abalone chowder, assorted seaweed, gim, and miyeok was sent, and the promotion event was held immediately upon the arrival of the products locally.

Based on the technology from this promotion event, the county is currently discussing holding the ‘Wando Seafood Festival’ locally in Laos in June.

At the ‘Wando Seafood Festival,’ various events such as cooking shows using local influencers, demonstrations, and tasting sessions are planned in collaboration with Kok Kok Megamart and the KOTRA Vientiane Trade Center.

Governor Shin Woo-cheol said, “Starting with Laos, we plan to hold promotion events consecutively in the United States, Japan, Australia, Europe, Vietnam, and other countries,” adding, “We will do our best to establish sales booths, develop new products, and support promotional events so that Wando’s specialty products become popular items in the global premium market and captivate the tastes of people worldwide.”

Meanwhile, Kok Kok Megamart, with an area of about 4,300 pyeong, opened its first store in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, at the end of January, and plans to sequentially open more than 1,000 Kok Kok M mini-marts in the Vientiane area.
