CBS No Cut News Commissioned Ruling Party Leadership Poll
Lee Jun-seok Faction's Cheon Ha-ram Candidate Rises to 4th Place, Drawing Attention

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyun-joo] A poll conducted among supporters of the People Power Party showed that candidates Ahn Cheol-soo and Kim Ki-hyun are forming a two-horse race for the next party leader, according to results released on the 6th. Notably, candidate Cheon Ha-ram, who is supported by former leader Lee Jun-seok as his sponsorship chairman, was included for the first time in this survey and immediately rose to 4th place, drawing attention.


The polling firm Jowon C&I conducted the survey on behalf of CBS No Cut News from the 3rd to the 5th, targeting 384 People Power Party supporters to assess suitability for the next party leader. Candidate Ahn led with 36.9%, ahead of candidate Kim at 32.1%, within the margin of error (±3.1 percentage points).


Following them, candidate Hwang Kyo-ahn received 9.3%, and candidate Cheon 8.6%, both making it into the top 4 cutoff for the preliminary election.


Next were lawyer Kang Shin-up, former president of Kim Geon-hee’s fan club 'Geonhee Sarang', with 2.9%, lawmaker Cho Kyung-tae at 1.9%, former Liberty Korea Party youth supreme council candidate Kim Jun-gyo at 1.5%, Pacific Construction CEO Yoon Ki-man at 1.1%, and lawmaker Yoon Sang-hyun at 0.7%. The response rate for 'none/unsure' was 5.0%.


By region, in Seoul, candidate Ahn (40.1%) led candidate Kim (29.6%) beyond the margin of error. In Incheon and Gyeonggi, Ahn had 37.4% and Kim 34.3%, while in Daegu and Gyeongbuk, Ahn had 37.9% and Kim 33.1%, both within the margin of error.

In the suitability survey for supreme council members, candidate Cho Soo-jin led with 13.2%. Following her were Jung Mi-kyung (8.8%), Min Young-sam (8.0%), Heo Eun-ah (7.9%), Kim Jae-won (7.4%), Kim Yong-tae (5.3%), Tae Young-ho (5.1%), Kim Byung-min (4.8%), Park Sung-joong (2.9%), Lee Yong (2.2%), Lee Man-hee (1.4%), Moon Byung-ho (1.3%), and Cheon Gang-jung (1.3%).


The People Power Party will conduct a cutoff among 6,000 responsible party members over two days, the 8th and 9th, to finalize the four candidates who will advance to the main party leader election.


This survey was conducted nationwide among men and women aged 18 and over using an ARS poll (100% mobile phone RDD method, proportionally allocated by gender, age group, and region with random sampling), with a response rate of 3.0%.
