Participation in North America's Largest HVAC Exhibition 'AHR Expo'
Unveiling Eco-friendly and High-efficiency Solutions
[Asia Economy Reporters Sunmi Park and Pyeonghwa Kim] South Korea's two leading home appliance companies, Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, will participate in the North America's largest HVAC exhibition, the 'AHR Expo,' held from the 6th to 8th (local time) in Atlanta, USA. Both companies share the goal of strengthening their North American market presence through energy-saving and high-efficiency HVAC solutions.
'DVM Hydro Unit'. Connects to the system air conditioner to supply hot water.
Samsung Electronics' DVM Hydro Unit That Can Produce Hot Water Using Refrigerant
Samsung Electronics has prepared an exhibition space of about 330㎡ (approximately 100 pyeong). The products showcased include new commercial HVAC solutions, new system air conditioners, and a variety of eco-friendly Wind-Free air conditioner product lines such as wall-mounted and cassette-type (ceiling indoor unit) models.
The most eye-catching product is the 'DVM Hydro Unit.' When connected to the DVM outdoor unit, a system air conditioner, it can supply hot water up to 80℃ along with cooling and heating. It efficiently produces hot water using the refrigerant used for cooling and heating, operates electrically, and reduces user burden compared to boilers.
Samsung Electronics will also exhibit the high-efficiency system air conditioner 'DVM S2 Max Heat,' which enhances cooling and heating performance and artificial intelligence (AI) functions. This model delivers heating performance even at minus 25℃. It applies a large-capacity compressor to increase maximum cooling capacity and has developed a new MCU (refrigerant flow direction control device) to increase the number of connectable indoor units from 6 to 12. It also applies 'AI Rapid Cooling Control,' which learns the status of the outdoor unit installed outside and cooling patterns to cool quickly.
Additionally, Samsung introduces wall-mounted and 1Way and 4Way cassette-type Wind-Free air conditioner lineups. Among these, the wall-mounted Wind-Free air conditioner is characterized by enhanced eco-friendly features. It applies the 'AI Saving Mode' of the SmartThings Energy service to reduce energy consumption by up to 20%. It also features a PM 1.0 filter that removes fine dust and a function that automatically adjusts the indoor temperature to the optimal state.
Choi Young-jun, Executive Director of Samsung Electronics' Home Appliance Business Division, said, "Samsung Electronics is expanding its position in the commercial HVAC market with differentiated Wind-Free HVAC solutions," adding, "We will continue to expand energy-saving solutions through SmartThings and introduce innovative high-efficiency products to target the North American HVAC market."
LG Electronics Leading with High-Efficiency Solutions with Energy-Saving Competitiveness
LG Electronics has prepared two exhibition booths totaling 630㎡: the 'HVAC Solutions Pavilion' and the 'Component Solutions Pavilion.' In the 'HVAC Solutions Pavilion,' it introduces 2023 HVAC solutions including the new commercial system air conditioner 'Multi V AI' equipped with a high-performance artificial intelligence (AI) engine, Dedicated Outdoor Air System (DOAS), heating and cooling system heat pump 'Therma V,' residential inverter heat pump water heater, and inverter scroll heat pump chiller.
The commercial system air conditioner Multi V AI offers differentiated AI functions through its high-performance AI engine, such as 'AI Indoor Space Care,' which automatically controls multiple indoor units in one space to maintain uniform temperature throughout the entire area; 'AI Energy Customized Control,' which operates according to the user's set energy usage target; and 'AI Smart Care,' which saves electricity by automatically reducing power when no one is present and adjusting cooling strength according to conditions to keep the indoor environment comfortable. For domestic products, the energy consumption efficiency is rated Grade 1, and compared to the previous model 'Multi V Super 5' of the same 16-horsepower class, energy efficiency has improved by up to 7.2%.
LG Electronics also showcases the Dedicated Outdoor Air System, which won the Innovation Award at last year's AHR Expo. This product adds dehumidification, cooling, and heating functions to commercial ventilation systems to simultaneously control the temperature and humidity of indoor air in buildings or facilities. The heating and cooling system heat pump Therma V, gaining popularity overseas due to soaring gas prices, is also exhibited. It uses a heat pump method that compresses outdoor air through a heat exchanger for heating and cooling. Compared to conventional boilers that burn fossil fuels for heat, it is environmentally friendly and highly energy-efficient.
In the 'Component Solutions Pavilion,' LG Electronics also presents differentiated core component competitiveness. All compressors apply refrigerants R454B and R32, which have a global warming potential 25-33% lower than the conventional R410A. Lee Jae-sung, Vice President and Head of LG Electronics H&A Business Division Air Solution Business Unit, said, "We will accelerate our global HVAC market strategy, including North America, with high-efficiency customized solutions that provide differentiated customer experiences such as excellent energy savings as well as comfortable indoor air quality management."
