Shinsegae Food Launches New Products Using Alternative Meat... "Aiming to Expand Consumer Base"

Shinsegae Food announced on the 6th that it will continuously launch new products using its alternative meat 'Better Meat' to increase brand awareness and expand consumer experience.


The newly released 'Better Meat Burger' consists of two flavors of burgers that combine Better Meat plant-based patties instead of meat patties, soft eggs, and crispy hash browns with a special sauce.


Shinsegae Food will also officially start online sales of Better Meat plant-based luncheon canned ham, which has been sold through concept stores and B2B (business-to-business) channels. They plan to expand sales of Better Meat plant-based luncheon canned ham on major online malls such as SSG.com and Gmarket. Better Meat plant-based luncheon canned ham is an alternative meat product made from 100% plant-based ingredients and does not use colorants to give meat its red color or sodium nitrite used to extend shelf life during the processed meat manufacturing process. From August to December last year, over 6,000 units were sold exclusively at Better Meat’s concept store ‘The Better’ over five months.


A Shinsegae Food official said, “We are increasing the use of Better Meat across various business areas to change consumer perceptions of alternative meat,” adding, “We aim to grow the domestic alternative meat market and simultaneously develop Better Meat as the leading alternative meat brand.”
