"Happy to Be in Korea" Yongpyong Resort Successfully Concludes International Ski Festival

3-5 Days, Over 350 Foreign Participants from 20 Countries in Korea

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] Yongpyong Resort successfully concluded the 40-year tradition of the Ski Festival for Foreign Residents in Korea.

Yongpyong Resort held the "40th Yongpyong International Ski Festival" from the 3rd to the 5th for three days. Started in 1983, the "Yongpyong International Ski Festival," now in its 40th edition, is a traditional ski competition for foreigners residing in Korea.


The participants are amateurs who purely love and enjoy skiing, and the event is meaningful for enjoying the snowy fields at Yongpyong Resort, a famous Korean ski destination, and fostering camaraderie. This year, more than 350 foreign residents from 20 countries, including ambassadors from Germany, France, Japan, Sweden, Norway, Austria, and the United States, participated.


On the first day, the 3rd, a welcome reception was held at the Dragon Valley Hotel Grand Ballroom. On the second day, alpine ski giant slalom races and snowboard giant slalom races took place on the New Red Slope. The ski competition was divided into seven groups by age, ranging from under 8 years old to over 60, with intense contests, while the snowboard competition featured two groups for men and women competing.

After all the events, a dinner party was held at the Bliss Hill Wellness Hall, where participants with outstanding records held a medal ceremony, and attendees of various nationalities enjoyed the festive night fostering friendship. The last day was reserved for free skiing time.


Shin Dalsun, CEO of Yongpyong Resort, said, "The Yongpyong International Ski Festival, which began in 1983, is a historic winter festival celebrating its 40th anniversary.
