Appointment of 52 New Public Officials

Creativity, Convergence, Innovation ... A Strong Start for New Public Officials in Pohang City On the 3rd, Pohang City held a commissioning ceremony for 52 new public officials who will lead the future of Pohang at the city hall's main conference room.

The commissioning ceremony proceeded in the order of awarding appointment letters and public official IDs, oath-taking, delivery of the Mokminsimseo, and a speech by Mayor Kangdeok Lee.


The newly appointed public officials who received their appointment letters pledged through the reading of the oath to become honest public officials who serve the citizens and communicate with them.


The newly appointed public officials this time are fresh recruits who passed the 2022 open competitive examination, totaling 52 people across 8 job series. The number of personnel by job series is ▲Administration 18 ▲Facilities 16 ▲Engineering 10 ▲Greenery 2 ▲Taxation 2 ▲Driving 2 ▲Marine Fisheries 1 ▲Rural Guidance Officer 1.


The new public officials will be assigned to affiliated institutions and business offices under Pohang City, each district office, and eup/myeon/dong administrative frontlines to carry out civil administration for regional development.


Mayor Kangdeok Lee said, “The creative ideas and passion of the new public officials will breathe new vitality into Pohang City,” and added, “I hope we can build a Pohang that can continuously grow through the values of creativity, convergence, and innovation, with a sense of responsibility and calling as public officials to meet the expectations of the citizens.”


After the commissioning ceremony, the new public officials will undergo a ‘Customized Training for Strengthening New Public Officials’ Competencies’ for four days from February 8 to 13 to cultivate a proper public service perspective and job competencies.
