[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Cheon Haram, the head of the Sooncheon Gap Party Committee and a candidate for the People Power Party's March 8 leadership election, demanded on the 5th that Representative Kim Ki-hyun, who is also running for party leader, dismiss lawyer Shin Pyeong from his position as head of the support committee, stating, "Figures like lawyer Shin Pyeong are making President Yoon Seok-yeol appear endlessly frivolous."
On the same day, Cheon posted on his Facebook, "The reason I voted for President Yoon Seok-yeol was because of his weightiness and his seemingly prudent demeanor," revealing his stance.
Cheon said, "As calls for lawyer Shin Pyeong's resignation continue, he has posted incomprehensible pedantic writings that make his position unclear," adding, "Candidate Kim Ki-hyun should not take lightly the grave issue of the president's possible withdrawal from the party and the founding of a new party, and must immediately dismiss lawyer Shin Pyeong."
Lawyer Shin Pyeong stated on his Facebook the day before, "Depending on circumstances, President Yoon may be forced to leave the People Power Party and establish a new party through political reorganization."
Cheon also said, "The presidential office should clearly state that lawyer Shin Pyeong's claims are not true," and added, "It has not even been a year since the presidential election ended. Please do not hurt party members any further."
After campaigning in Daegu Dongseong-ro and meeting with reporters, Cheon criticized, "If even Ahn Cheol-soo cannot be embraced, who exactly are Yoon's core supporters trying to do politics with?" He continued, "I cannot help but ask whether they only want to take along those who line up, and I have no choice but to criticize this."
