[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is openly recruiting 15 members for the 2023 Resident Reporters until February 16.
The 2023 Resident Reporters program was launched to activate two-way communication rather than one-way communication by having local residents who know the conditions and characteristics of their neighborhoods well discover and promote neighborhood news.
They will cover on-site situations of various events held in the districts, conduct resident interviews, and report on distinctive projects, useful information, and heartwarming stories from the 15 neighborhoods that make up Gwangjin-gu by writing press releases and photo news to promote them.
The reporter group consists of 30 members: 15 recommended by the district community centers and 15 recruited through open application.
Eligibility requirements include being a Gwangjin-gu resident aged 19 or older or a person living within the Gwangjin-gu living area with a workplace, business, or school in Gwangjin-gu, who ▲is interested in local news ▲can submit at least one press release quarterly including written articles and photos based on on-site coverage.
Applications can be submitted by sending the application form and other documents via email to the person in charge or by visiting the Public Relations Office at Gwangjin-gu Office.
Detailed recruitment announcements and application forms are available on the Gwangjin-gu Office website, and inquiries can be made to the Public Relations Office.
Selected resident reporters will receive training on press release writing through the Public Relations Academy and then begin their activities. A manuscript fee of 30,000 KRW will be paid for submitting at least one press release per quarter.
The Public Relations Office plans to distribute press releases written by the resident reporters to media outlets to support article publication, and photo news will be posted on the Gwangjin-gu Office website.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “I hope the 2023 Resident Reporters will serve as a communication bridge to vividly introduce news, hidden stories, and useful information from all corners of Gwangjin-gu,” adding, “We will do our best to create a better neighborhood and Gwangjin by covering not only good news but also news that needs improvement.”
