[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jung Won-oh) is accepting applications for the 2023 Village Community Public Project until the 20th of this month.
The Village Community Public Project supports various community activities that restore neighborly networks through communication and cooperation, enabling residents to plan village activities themselves and solve common problems. The district believes that community activities at the village level lead to change and development in the village, and plans to actively proceed with this year’s projects by securing district funds in line with the With-Corona era.
This public project covers 42 projects in 5 categories ranging from activity support to project support: ▲Relationship Support ▲Growth Support ▲Neighborhood Planning Group ▲Creating Neighborhood Bonds ▲Neighborhood Problem-Solving. The total budget is 58 million KRW. Selected projects will receive support ranging from 500,000 KRW to a maximum of 4 million KRW per project.
Applicants can freely propose projects that address common interests needed in the village and contribute to the activation of the village community. Any resident group or organization with three or more members residing or living in Seongdong-gu can apply by preparing the necessary documents and submitting them in person or via email to the Village Autonomy Support Center located in Doseon-dong.
Last year, 41 groups were supported, carrying out various village community projects such as ▲Smartphone education for seniors ▲Ensemble performance volunteering ▲Alley plogging for resource circulation practice ▲Meal sharing for vulnerable groups.
The briefing session for the public project will be held on February 6th at 2 PM in the 3rd floor auditorium of Seongdong-gu Office. Detailed information can be found on the Seongdong-gu Office or Seongdong Village Autonomy Support Center websites.
Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, "Change in the village begins with residents’ interest and participation," adding, "If residents continue activities where they propose and solve problems themselves through the public project, it will not only revitalize the community but also create a village full of happiness."
