Seocho-gu, Full-Scale Promotion of Home Visit Medical Care Project

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seocho-gu (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) is set to actively promote the free medical service project called the ‘Visiting Home Medical Care Project’ for residents in medical blind spots.

This project involves Korea University Medical Center (Vice President and Medical Center Director Kim Young-hoon) and the Korea branch of the global home healthcare company Bayada Home Health Care (CEO Kim Young-min) jointly participating.

Accordingly, the three institutions including the district office will sign a business agreement for project promotion on the 7th at the Seocho-gu Office main conference room, with the heads and representatives of the respective institutions in attendance.

Officially starting in March, this project is broadly divided into two types: ‘Mobile Bus Visiting Type’ and ‘Home Visit Type’.

First, the ‘Mobile Bus Visiting Type’ targets severely disabled individuals, facility residents, elderly living alone, and those not enrolled in health insurance who find hospital examinations and treatments difficult due to physical or economic reasons.

The medical services include basic blood and urine tests, with additional ultrasound, X-ray, CT scans, and dental care provided as needed.

Furthermore, patients requiring additional examinations and treatments will receive medical expense support through the Seoripul Care SOS Project, funded by case management project expenses.

Personnel involved include doctors and administrative staff dispatched from Korea University Medical Center, while Bayada Home Health Care will deploy nurses, radiologists, and clinical pathologists.

The frequency of medical services is once per quarter, with each session expected to treat between 20 and 70 patients.

Second, the ‘Home Visit Type’ targets homebound elderly and disabled individuals who have difficulty visiting hospitals, providing integrated medical services including treatment and nursing care.

The personnel involved include one doctor and one nurse, visiting four households twice a month for medical care.

Seocho-gu Mayor Jeon Seong-su stated, "With the active support of domestic and international medical institutions, we were able to proceed with this visiting home medical care project. We plan to continue actively promoting policies for residents in medical blind spots through public-private cooperation."

Meanwhile, Korea University Medical Center has been conducting various medical support projects nationwide since establishing its own Social Contribution Headquarters in May last year.

Additionally, Bayada Home Health Care, headquartered in the United States, operates worldwide providing free medical services such as visiting nursing, home care, and customized health management.
