He especially lamented that the remaining bereaved families have not received comfort, expressing deep responsibility and shame as a public official.
On the 4th, a day before the 100th day of the October 29 tragedy, Governor Kim visited the Itaewon joint memorial altar and posted on his social network service (SNS), "Today is the day before the 100th day since the October 29 tragedy occurred," adding, "Early this morning, my wife and I paid respects at the Itaewon joint memorial altar and walked to the alley where the tragedy happened."
He continued, "The mother of the late Kim Eui-hyun, whom I met at Suwon Yeonhwa Funeral Hall, was also there, and it was painfully heartbreaking," and asserted, "To heal the trauma of the families who experienced the tragedy, a full investigation and realization of justice must be achieved."
However, he added, "The hearts of the bereaved families, filled with sorrow and pain, have not yet been comforted," and "As a public official, I feel deep responsibility and shame."
Furthermore, he promised, "I will stand with the bereaved families until the day their hearts can be sincerely comforted."
