The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that as of midnight on that day, 14,624 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed, bringing the total to 30,243,393. The number of new cases decreased by 337 compared to the previous day (14,961).
Compared to a week ago on the 28th of last month (23,612 cases), it decreased by 8,988, and compared to two weeks ago on the 21st of last month (27,644 cases), it decreased by 10,320. Considering the increased movement during the Lunar New Year holidays and adjustments to the indoor mask-wearing mandate, the number of confirmed cases is analyzed to be maintaining a gradual decline.
The number of new confirmed cases on this day is the lowest in 31 weeks since July 2 of last year (10,708 cases), before the 6th wave officially began, based on Saturday announcements.
Among the new confirmed cases on this day, 41 were imported cases, 13 more than the previous day (28). Of the imported cases, 19 (46.3%) were arrivals from China. Excluding imported cases, domestic regional infections numbered 14,583.
The number of confirmed cases by region (including imported cases) is as follows: Gyeonggi 3,488, Seoul 2,440, Gyeongnam 1,157, Busan 1,050, Gyeongbuk 813, Daegu 791, Incheon 749, Chungnam 612, Jeonnam 566, Chungbuk 524, Jeonbuk 522, Gangwon 428, Ulsan 418, Gwangju 405, Daejeon 372, Jeju 206, Sejong 78, Quarantine 5.
The number of critically ill patients currently hospitalized is 325, 14 fewer than the previous day (339). The number of deaths on the previous day was 22, 8 fewer than the day before (30). The cumulative number of deaths is 33,574, with a cumulative fatality rate of 0.11%.
