Na Kyung-won, "I will consider it" without a clear answer
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Kim Ki-hyun, a candidate running for the People Power Party leadership election, revealed that he had an open and sincere conversation with former lawmaker Na Kyung-won. This is interpreted as an effort to resolve the lingering resentment surrounding Na's decision not to run. Kim requested cooperation from Na, but she only responded that she would consider it.
On the 4th, Kim posted on his social media (SNS), "I visited former lawmaker Na at her home last night," and said this.
He said, "The two of us have been comrades for the past 20 years, working together in the party to uphold the legitimacy of the conservative right wing, so we were able to have an open and sincere conversation. I expressed my wish to join forces for the success of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration and victory in next year’s general election."
Kim added, "In response, former lawmaker Na said she would consider the role she should play as an 'eternal party member' for the success of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration and victory in next year’s general election. I respect Na’s role and contributions, as she has steadfastly fought through all hardships to stop the Democratic Party regime’s tyranny. Therefore, I will continue to engage in dialogue and seek cooperation so that we can move forward hand in hand with former lawmaker Na."
Political circles analyze that the relationship between Kim and Na may not be smooth, as stories have emerged that the 'pro-Yoon' faction exerted pressure during Na’s decision not to run. In particular, there are also rumors of a 'metropolitan area alliance' between Na and Ahn Cheol-soo, who is competing with Kim, making Na’s support crucial for Kim as an ally in the leadership election.
