"US FBI Likely to Search Former Vice President Pence's Residence, 'Republican Contender'"

"Due to Discovery of Confidential Documents... Schedule Under Discussion"

[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on the 2nd (local time) that the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is expected to search the home of former Vice President Mike Pence, where about 10 leaked classified documents were found last month, within a few days.

WSJ cited multiple sources saying that the U.S. Department of Justice is coordinating the search schedule with Pence's side. Pence, who served as vice president during the Donald Trump administration, announced that about 10 classified documents were found at his Indiana residence last month and were returned to the National Archives.

Pence's attorneys claimed that when Trump's term ended, these documents were carelessly mixed with other papers and transported to his home, and that Pence was not even aware that the documents were at his residence.

WSJ noted that unlike former President Trump, who refused to submit documents and cooperate with investigations, President Joe Biden showed a cooperative attitude, and the search was conducted through an agreement. It is expected that the investigation of Pence's home will be conducted in a similar manner.

Pence, considered one of the Republican frontrunners, is weighing a run for the 2024 U.S. presidential election.
