Gwangsan District Council of Gwangju Begins Full-Scale 'Legwork Legislative Activities'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangsan District Council of Gwangju Metropolitan City has announced the first start of the 2023 "Legwork Legislative Activities" by conducting on-site activities by standing committees.


According to the Gwangsan District Council on the 3rd, the Citizens' Safety Committee (Chairman Yoon Young-il) visited the "Bitgoeul National Safety Experience Center," a disaster and safety citizen experience facility, to enhance disaster response capabilities and raise safety awareness.

They directly participated in programs such as disaster and safety experiences and response training, and held discussions on preventive measures and the role of local governments, thoroughly reviewing content applicable to legislative activities.


Chairman Yoon said, "To protect citizens' lives and property, it is necessary to further strengthen local governments' response capabilities to various disasters and safety accidents," adding, "We will apply the know-how acquired through today's visit to our district's policies and projects to firmly establish a safety management network."


The Administrative Autonomy Committee and the Economic Welfare Committee also visited major facilities in the district to inspect operational status and listen to vivid voices from the field.


The Administrative Autonomy Committee (Chairman Jeong Jaebong) visited four locations in sequence: ▲ Jangdeok Library ▲ New site of Gwangsan District Health Center ▲ Bitgoeul National Sports Center ▲ Ecolian Gwangsan CC, touring the sites, receiving explanations on operational status, and discussing improvement and development plans.


Chairman Jeong said, "Today's schedule was very meaningful as the first on-site activity of the new year," and added, "We will continue to examine various issues from the citizens' perspective and strive to make Gwangsan a better place to live."


The Economic Welfare Committee (Chairman Gong Byeongcheol) visited ▲ Wolbong Seowon ▲ National Leisure Eco-friendly Auto Camping Site ▲ Gwangsan Nongak Transmission Education Center to conduct status inspections. They took time to seek ways to efficiently operate and revitalize the facilities.


Chairman Gong stated, "We will actively reflect the problems and improvements found on-site in our legislative activities," and added, "We will continue on-site centered legislative activities to prepare policies and projects necessary for the district residents."


Meanwhile, this on-site activity by each standing committee was conducted during the 277th extraordinary session of the Gwangsan District Council, and it is evaluated as an opportunity to collect opinions from the field regarding major issues and projects and to prepare constructive plans.
